a small sample

          haiku & senryu
                                            by Bill Deegan

second slice of pizza
I get my wrinkled dollar
back in change

road past the meadow firehouse chicken dinner

autumn warmth
we lie in it
a little longer

bare soles
on cold blacktop
jackal moon

morning breeze~
ironing out
the new shirt's crease

Father's Day~
blueberry pie softens
the conversation

beneath the curtain
a foot on its heel
election day

egg white
slipping through my fingers
winter sunrise

last night's snow
slips from a branch--
first of January

edge of coolness
seedlings emerge
from a tumble-down wall

lemon tea
the daughters remember
her hairstyles
